Fall, Autumn, Beauty in the New Season!
Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns. ~George Eliot
We live in the northeastern section of the US, so this time of year is Autumn for us in the “traditional” sense.
This is a video that I took last year at the Delaware Canal State Park in Yardley, Bucks County PA.
Our leaves change color (most years just amazing colors).
The temperatures shift colder.
The days get shorter.
People start celebrating Halloween and the spooky, scary shows and movies come out.
Kids are back in school.
Fashion changes to wools, sweats, and sweaters.
People are more awake and alert than they are in the summer.
The squirrels are busy building up their stores for winter!
Do you want to start getting some more income before the holidays? We can help!

Event to give a Voting Scorecard to Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick
The Penn Action group of Progressive activists in Bucks County had a great day at the Levittown Post Office today. The rain stopped and we had a good turnout, and a lot of drive by traffic.
We were working with the National week of action on giving “Scorecard” information to the people on how our Congressman had voted on issues that are important to us – the Middle Class and the rest of the 99%.
We are very concerned about the proposed Ryan Budget that the Republicans are promoting that will destroy the safety nets that are now in place for people with Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security.
Many people think that Medicaid is for poor single mothers, and other types of families. We believe that this is an important need in our society.
However, most families are touched by Medicaid when a family member runs out of money and needs services as they need to live in a skilled nursing facility. This is also a Middle Class issue.
Check out the Penn Action Facebook page for more info! http://www.facebook.com/PennAction

A bit about the Maori people and a great song!
The Maori people are an Eastern Polynesian group that has an amazing history in New Zealand.
I find the Maori culture so rich and interesting. You can learn a bit about the culture and people online. This is the link to the Wikipedia site. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C4%81ori_culture
Here is a documentary if you are interested to learn more about their history.
I found this great motivational song today!
He Kakano Ahau
Born of Greatness
Hohepa Tamehana, 2001
It is from the Maori culture, and this is the website that has the translation for English lyrics -
http://folksong.org.nz/he_kakano_ahau/index.html
This is the video on youtube that helped me find this wonderful and motivational song.
I am a seed
Scattered from Rangiatea
And I can never be lost
I am a seed, born of greatness
Descended from a line of chiefs,
I am a seed.
Wherever I may roam
I will hold fast to my traditions.
My language is my cherished possession
My language is the object of my affection
My precious adornment
My language is my strength,
An ornament of grace
Whenever I stand,
I am clothed by my ancestors
My pride I will show
That you may know who I am
I am a warrior, a survivor
I am a remnant
Wherever I may roam
I will hold fast to my traditions.
My language is my cherished possession
My treasured Tiger Shell
My precious ornament
My language is my strength,
An ornament of grace
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Isn’t that beautiful?
Remember that you are a child of the earth, the sky, and the spiritual world as well. You were meant to live a life full of prosperity and greatness.

Wonderful event last week sponsored by Penn Action, Center for American Progress, Keystone Progress and Pennsylvania Working Families
The event was Thursday, September 20 at the House of Prayer in Bristol, PA. http://www.houseofprayerlevittown.org
I took Video of the public discussion about what the Ryan Budget will mean for Bucks County and Pennsylvania. I do not use a tripod, and the videos are not perfect. The information is outstanding, so please pay attention to that!
I broke up the taping into 4 videos.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

If you just smile,,,,,
Smile
by Charles Chaplin (yes, that Charlie Chaplin!)
Lyrics as Sung by Michael Jackson
Smile, though your heart is aching
Smile, even though it’s breaking
When there are clouds in the sky
You’ll get by…
If you smile
With your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just…
Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That’s the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what’s the use of crying
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just…
Smile, though your heart is aching
Smile, even though it’s breaking
When there are clouds in the sky
You’ll get by…
If you smile
Through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile…
That’s the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what’s the use of crying
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile

In 1936 a film was made called “Modern Times”. Charlie Chaplin wrote the music for it. John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons added lyrics and the title in 1954.
The song was released in 1964 by Nat King Cole and another recording was made by Sunny Gale.
Michael Jackson recorded the song for the HIStory album, but it was pulled from the release and he never sang it live. He did play a recording at the beginning of performances of the HIStory tour in honor of Diana, Princess of Wales after her death.
This is one of the videos that people have put together on Youtube.
The point of the song is that you can put a smile and move forward with a positive attitude.

Thing 1 and Thing 2
My Aunt Sally wrote me a nice email today, and signed it Sally #1. Ok, she was here before me! And, I was named after her.
I told her that it did make me think of Thing 1 and Thing 2, and that I would probably blog about it!
Funny, but I forgot that there was a Sally in that story, too. LOL
I always love Dr. Seuss. He was a very wise man. A few of his quotes:
I will definitely write more about Dr. Seuss and his work.
Dr. Seuss was just one pen name for Theodor Seuss Geisel March 2, 1904 – September 24, 1991. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._Seuss
As I surfed the web for info on Thing 1 and Thing 2, there was a lot of sites offering costumes for babies and adults! I also found a Dr. Seuss wiki! http://seuss.wikia.com/wiki/Thing_One_and_Thing_Two

We consider a day that we see wild deer, a really good day!
We love animals, and have always enjoyed finding gentle deer families on out trips in the country or to a park.
We had a wonderful afternoon at Core Creek Park in Langhorne, PA. It is one of our favorite ways to spend an afternoon with our dog, Buddy.
A video that I made of our still photos
Pink clouds before sunset!
Waiting in the car a few minutes with Buddy

Saw “Galaxy Quest” again tonight – fun and it makes good points, too.
We just saw a favorite movie again on cable tonight. I am so glad, because it makes me think of great things to share with you
I LOVE “Galaxy Quest”. It was released in 1999 and always makes me smile.
I really enjoy looking up details of movies and shows on IMDB.com. I love to see people in the cast that I didn’t remember, especially before they were famous!
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0177789/
The director is Dean Parisot. He has directed a lot of great tv shows (like Monk), and another favorite movie of mine – “Home Fries” with Drew Barrymore, Luke Wilson, and Catherine O’Hara.
The movie is available on Netflix.com if you are a member, there.
https://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/Galaxy_Quest/28369403?locale=en-US
Tim Allen (Toy Story, The Santa Clause)
Sigourney Weaver (Avatar)
Alan Rickman (Harry Potter)
Tony Shalhoub (Monk)
Justin Long (Dodgeball)
Enrico Colantoni (Just Shoot Me!)
The story is very sweet and appeals to kids as well as middle aged geezers who grew up on Star Treik! That’s me. LOL
The group was in a tv show, kind of like Star Trek. Now, they do conventions, paid appearances, etc. Tim Allen’s character is bored, sloppy, rude, and drunk.
Tim Allen has a great story line where he learns to be fair and be a man, and share credit with his friends.
Then a group of real aliens come to Tim Allen for help. They think that the “historical documents” (the tv shows that they saw) were real, and that this crew can save their species.
Enrico Colatoni is just amazing in this movie. He plays the reluctant leader of a species of aliens that look kind of like octopuses (I had to look up the correct plural for octopus!). They have a device that gives them a human form. He is a sweet and innocent creature, in difficult circumstances.
The TV show’s catch phrase was “Never Give Up, Never Surrender”.
How great for our lives as well!
You can give up on your dreams. You can never surrender to your fear and anxiety about success.
We want to help you!
