Perfect day in Lancaster County, PA on Friday

Good Friday, 2012

We decided to celebrate a day off together by going to one of our favorite places,  Lancaster  County.

If you know me at all, you know how much I love animals.  I admire people on farms, and I know that I could never do all the work required.  It is still a fantasy to be able to cuddle cows, sheep, and chickens any time I want.  LOL.

We drove around the back roads and saw wonderful farms.  Then we had lunch/dinner at heaven, I mean Shady Maple!

I think that the Amish families had a holiday day off, too.  We saw a lot of them walking, riding bikes, and out in carriages.  Everyone was friendly and waved to us.

The soil is so rich in this area.  We saw lots of farm land prepared for spring planting.

It is very peaceful for us riding past the farms.

This miniature horse was the size of a big dog.  So cute.

When we started visiting Shady Maple, it was a smaller place that was more for locals.  Now it is so huge, but the food is still wonderful.

Thanks for letting us join in on your day. We used to have a summer house in Milford when i was younger and then in E. Strousberg when I was older.

How fun, Sally! I still remember how beautiful it was there- I spent a holiday traveling the Pennsylvania countryside while going to school in Pittsburgh… It was amazingly beautiful!

Thanks Christina. The food here always tastes spectacular, too. The fruits and veggies are always fresh from the farms.

You are very blessed to live in such a tranquil place. City life is so overrated.

You are very blessed to be living in such a tranquil place. City life is so over rated in my opinion.

Although I didn’t grow up there, your story and pictures reminded me of growing up in Michigan and taking road trips up north. Thank you for the “escape!”

Thanks James. Yes, Michigan is beautiful as well. After I was married to my husband and lived in Milwaukee, we spent a lot of weekends in Michigan enjoying the scenery.
