Finding the People who Want to Read YOUR blog~

Do you love to write?  Have you been working on a blog?

Most people work so hard on developing the look of the blog, writing the posts, but then they are having a party and there are few if any guests!

I did a lot of online work over the last bunch of years.  Now I am retired on disability, and just blog for fun and self directed therapy!  When I was working, I was self hosted, and had all the bells and whistles.  I worried about SEO and all the other things that you worry about, including attracting customers.

Now, I just want people to read an appreciate what I write.  I want them to see the photos that I take, the videos that I make.  I want to get to know people and have online discussions.  I am now addicted to Empire Avenue, and love to add up my social media points every day!

I feel successful when I have activity on my blog posts.

This is how I spread the word, and get people who want to read my posts and leave a comment:

1.  Find groups of like minded bloggers.  I am in groups on Facebook, Bloggers.com, TheBlogfrog.com, and Triberr.  Having other bloggers that want to trade the opportunity to read and comment on each other’s blogs is key.  Plus, on triberr, you forward the information on the blog posts of each member to Twitter and Facebook!  (Join my tribe at http://triberr.com/tribes/?tid=11839)  For Triberr, you need to find other bloggers in your niche, or one like mine that is for “anything”.

2.  Favo.rs – ask and get favors from others to promote your blog post.  I love this site!

3.  Tweet, Google+, and use other tools to invite people to read your blog.

4.  Mission on Empire Avenue.  It “costs” a bit, but you can get a lot of readers to your blog by paying out your Empire Avenue “eaves” to set up a mission.  My profile is http://empireavenue.com/sallykwitt.

4.  Blogengage – I am still new here, and figuring out the website.  But they do have a lot of great tools!

Share what you do to find readers!

Leave the link to your blog and let’s share comments and likes!!

Excellent advice – I must spend some time and do the things you suggest.

I wonder how many quality leads\eyes on your blog you get from EA vs just people looking to complete a mission?

Hi Tulleuchen. I am not looking for leads. If people read my blog and like it, I am very happy!

    Great tips!

I think this is really good advice for people who blog on general subjects – such a wide field with so many people doing it. My problem is the opposite – I blog on the politics of Anglican churches around the world, as well as other topics from a Christian background. That automatically narrows enormously the potential audience, but it also means that if they beat a path to my door they often become long-term ‘customers’. I definitely find I need to spend quite a lot of time commenting on other similar blogs. This is definitely a ‘you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours’ kind of environment.

Excellent share! Thank you. So many people focus on making money and selling things, that is not the only reason to blog.

Great blog Sally! You speak good sense and I’ve bookmarked your blog to follow.

Great advice here. I’m just getting into Empire Accounts and loving it. But there’s lots I don’t know about it yet.

This is awesome Sally, great tips there. I’m using most of them, I’ll check out the others. I’ll have to check out Favo.rs and Blogengage. Seems like it might add a bit of value.

Thanks for the great tips! I’ve been blogging for seven years, and commenting has definitely dropped off. I can use all the help I can get!

You showed me several tools I hadn’t thought or heard of before. Great advice and I think your wisdom is worth sharing with others, especially since I haven’t heard of Triberr or Blogengage.

      Thanks for your note, Len

You’re welcome. Thanks for sharing good advice.

    Great tips, Sally!

I wouldn’t dismiss SEO entirely, though. Attracting like-minded people through search brings in new, random people you might never meet through “the usual channels”.

Thanks Scott. I really meant that I don’t have my own url to worry about anymore! I definitely use key words in my posts to find readers. I appreciate you looking out for me!

    Hi Sally,

I love the post! I am checking out Favo.rs now as I haven’t heard of this before. If you have an Affiliate link with BE, you can add your code here and put a badge up to gain some extra income. This is a marvelous community of bloggers. Sally
