Helping Homeless Pets. EASEL Animal Rescue League

Imagine a world where stray, homeless, unwanted pets could live safely and with respect while new homes are found for them!  Imagine a time when the animals can live their lives without threat of being killed because there is not enough room in a shelter, or with a foster family?

A few of us went to a volunteer orientation tonight at Lawrence Library in Mercer County, NJ.  The organization is EASEL Animal Rescue League.

This is one of many groups across the country that is working towards the wonderful goals of keeping companion animals safe and comfortable, and finding the right homes for each one.

They have many volunteer needs, so if you are in this area check out the information at http://www.easelnj.org/cms/index.php?page=Volunteer

Fund raising is so important for this group.  If a dog or cat cannot find a new home, they find a spot at a forever home sanctuary, at the cost of hundreds/thousands of dollars for each animal.

This photo is of Rubi Rivas Guaman, who raised $45 at a bake sale with her friend Naika Alexandre to help the rescue organization.  How wonderful!  She is giving the money to Karen Azarchi, who is the President of EASEL.

I hope to help this group with my online skills, and taking time to cuddle and socialize at the shelter with the dogs and cats when I can.

How do you help animals in your community?

I love hearing about these places. Utah has several that I like to follow. We adopted a puppy mill rescue and we adore him.
