We’re Having a Heat Wave, A Tropical Heat Wave!!

It is hot in the northeast! We have been having a dangerous heat wave for a few weeks.  Stay cool and safe!

It is too hot to go too far, or stay outside too long in our area. A true heat wave!

I know that some of you live in areas where it is at least this hot normally. In our area, it is extraordinary and causes a lot of health problems!

We have adjusted our plans to be outside at a festival today to keep my parents safe. I don’t have great health, either, and got sick on Sunday from being outside in the very hot weather.

It is really important to take care of people when the weather is extreme in any way. Homeless people do not always have a place to go to get out of the heat and stay safe. Shelters and medical centers are usually overwhelmed when it is very hot.

Be careful with your pets, too. Never leave a pet in a car, even with the windows open, when it is warm. It gets hotter than you can imagine in your car when it is stopped!

This article from Accuweather gives you the scoop about the dangers of leaving your dog in the car.

Here is an article on the Huffington Post about the heat wave and health concerns.

It looks like today and tomorrow will be the worst for us here in Michigan. The “feels like” temp is supposed to get up to 106 both days. It’s hard on the kids to be cooped up inside. They’d play outside all day long if I let them, but in this heat they’d be burnt to a crisp in no time.

That is right! You can only cover them up and coop them up so much. LOL

I will be so glad when this heat ends! I wish I were one of those people who loves hot weather. It would make things a lot easier.

Thanks for the entertainment, Sally! I don’t think I ever saw that Marilyn Monroe movie – and I thought I had seen them all;)

We had 102 on 4th of July and it’s 102 again today. Feels more like New Delhi than Chicago! I’m using fans in combination with the AC, since the AC alone is just not enough during the day – the dog loves it, too LOL! I hope people who are having trouble with their air conditioning get out and go to the library or a coffee shop…better yet, go from one to the next;)

Yes Mary! My dog determines what I do many days. LOL

I grew up in the Midwest, so I remember this weather well … Stay cool and keep hydrated!

I hope things cool down for you guys soon. But not too much of course – I’m in Australia at the moment and we’re going through a bit of a cool spell and the houses are just not designed for it so I’m shivering away…

It is always fun to remember that we are opposite in our weather! Thanks for stopping by.

It is so true Sally, that you need to be careful in the heat. I remember a really hot summer heatwave here a few years back and my husband and I survived it by laying on the cold tiles with wet towel on us and a wet washer on the babies across their bare tummies. You also need to remember to drink lots and lots of water and make sure the elderly and children are staying hydrated as well.

Thanks for visiting, Jodie! Wow, what an interesting way to keep cool.

Such good advice. Utah has already hit 100 degrees. Thanks for reminding us all about these important facts.

Yikes, Donna. Utah is beautiful, but I remember being quite hot when we visited a few times!
