A friend’s story – victim of Fraud by her mortgage company, and trying to help others!
My friend Marla sent me this follow up information Please sign the petition if you can…
First of all I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends and an early wish for a very Happy Holiday season to come. Mine was especially sweet as I was able to share it with both of my sons for the first time in a long while.
Secondly, I want to thank you for signing the petition “Don’t Let Griffin Residential & Vericrest Financial Evict Marla from Her Home.” My fight has just begun, however, I promise you this is not just about my me and my situation, this could be about someone close to you, a family member, a friend or neighbor who has has needed to negotiate a loan modification to help them keep their homes.
The stories I hear from many are so similar, it’s frightening. The banks lose your paperwork, even though you’ve filed them 3 times, then they need more documents, then they lose those and so on. All they’re really doing is stalling you long enough so you owe them so much in back payments, they can justify denying you the loan modification.
Did you know that banks are getting paid by the government to take the loan mod applications, but there is NO incentive to actually grant you one. There are no checks and balances on procedures, nor are there penalties if their practices fail and cause you to lose your home. Banks are being bailed out, but homeowners are left flailing in the water waiting to drown.
So this is not just about me, it’s about all the homeowners who’ve been scammed before and preventing anyone else from being screwed in the future. I am in this for the long haul and am committed to working with local, state and federal advocacy groups, politicians and the media to expose these awful practices that are hurting honest homeowners.
If you don’t know why the system is so corrupt, here’s the cliff notes version: lenders are paid to take the loan mod applications and then they get to decide who gets them or not – it’s like the fox guarding the hen house. Lenders make insider deals with groups of buyers called syndicates who pool their money to buy 10 houses at a time (or more), with a deal that is already underway between them and before you’ve been notified that you’re turned down for your loan mod. Oh then they fail to tell you you’ve been turned down (they are not required to send notification via certified mail), so you’re home is foreclosed on before you even know you’ve been turned down (like in my case). The lenders and buyers are in cahoots, think of it like insider trading, buyers get the homes way under market value (like mine – rather than do a principle reduction or loan mod), then put a little spit and polish on them and make a killing for these investors. Not to mention, like in my case my new “owner” has its own realty company so it’s denying our local realtors their business and get to keep the money all to themselves. The worst part, this is technically legal, but I am others are working to change this. So if you know anyone in this situation who have lost their homes are who are in danget of losing them, please have them contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org because I have collected the resources and contacts to help them too.
As for my own case, step one is fighting the eviction on December 11th and I cannot tell you why, but that will be granted. We are also filing another motion this week, that will blow your minds, but I cannot discuss details at this time, but I will say I have a very good shot of fighting the foreclosure AND getting penalties applied because fraud was involved. So please keep thinking good thoughts, and whatever happens, my boys and I still have our health and I am so grateful f or what I have and don’t worry about what I don’t.
In closing, I just have one thing to ask from you, I need many more signatures!
The petition program is a bit misleading, as it only rolls over to the next hundred (it doesn’t let you set a goal amount or leave it open ended), so people think I’ve reached my goal, but I am far from it. Can you please commit to getting at least 5 (or more) people to sign the petition and then ask them to share it too.

Again, I am so grateful to have you all in my life and thank you again for your support, kind words and love.
With gratitude always,
